Questions about quidditch

How do you play quidditch?
Quidditch is a co-ed sport that is best described as a mix of handball, rugby and dodgeball, casually played on brooms. Check out this page on our website for a more extensive description.

How big is the sport?
Currently there are about 100-120 active players in The Netherlands. Worldwide there are teams in over 30 countries.

I don’t live in Wageningen, where else can I play?
Besides us, the other competitive teams in The Netherlands are located in Eindhoven, Enschede, Rotterdam and Utrecht. The teams in Amsterdam and Maastricht are not competitive yet. Click here for more information.

Are all quidditch players big Harry Potter fans? Are you cosplayers?
No, not all players are fan of Harry Potter. We have a varied group of people, with players that are huge fans, but also players that have never read the books or seen the movies. We are not cosplayers: when we’re playing quidditch, we just wear regular sports clothes (though some people may like to cosplay in their free time).

Questions about the Wageningen Werewolves

Do you have separate teams for ladies and gents?
No, we don’t. Quidditch is a mixed sport and one of the rules is the so-called gender rule: this rule states that a maximum of four people of the same gender are allowed in the field at the same time. This is the gender that someone identies with, and not necessarily the sex they were assigned at birth. Our sport is open to people of all genders.

Do I have to know all the rules before I start playing?
You don’t! We’ll gradually explain you the rules, starting with the basics. If you’re interested in learning more about the rules, you can even become a referee later on.

Do you play matches against other teams?
We do! We participate in the Dutch Quidditch League and play in (inter)national tournaments as well. We have a match day on which we play multiple matches about once a month.

What is your membership fee and how do I join the team?
